This course aims to develop an advanced level of academic communication through the formulation of research questions on linguistic and cultural topics, using appropriate research methods and critical thinking skills. Students utilize a variety of information sources to investigate, organize, and analyze the information. Taught in Japanese.
While called pre-capstone, this class could more accurately called capstone part 1. In this class we went through several exercises to understand how capstone works, and then began much of the work that would go into our actual capstone. It was useful for teaching us not only research methods, but also on how to be on track to finish our own projects. It connects very easily to JAPN 404 and WLC 400, as they all work on similar skills and relate to helping finish our capstones. In the future I will take the presentational and research skills I learned into the future, and hopefully continue to improve them.
